Activities & Snacks

Activities:

  • Count quarters
  • Make a cloth or paper quilt.  Have each student draw a picture of an object that begins with the letter ‘q’ on a square piece of paper or cloth.  Attach the squares together to make a large quilt. 
  • Make giant letters Q/q on the floor with electrical tape. Practice walking the letters quickly, quietly… and quack while you waddle!
  • Play “quack, quack, honk” (duck, duck, goose)
  • Play “find the Queen” (Old Maid)
  • Play “Jack be nimble, Jack be quick” by jumping over objects in your home/classroom
  • Play red light/green light.  Run quickly for the green light.
  • Put baby dolls down for a nap.  Tell other toys to be quiet so the dolls do not wake up.
  • Use Q-tips to paint and trace the letter ‘q’
  • Go on a “quest” for the letter ‘q’. Go quietly and quickly!
  • Make quail hats.  Pretend to be quiet quails or quick quails!

Snacks:

  • Eat licorice shaped like the letter ‘q’
  • Make a quilt square.  Frost a graham cracker and add licorice for stitches.
  • Make ‘q’ shaped cookies
  • Nestle Quick
  • Quaker Oat Bars
